The Second Highest Agricultural Contribution in Indonesia’s GDP Structure of Gross Domestic Product by Business Field in the Third Quarter of 2019.
Agriculture become the sector which dominate gross domestic product (GDP) in Indonesia based on the business sector. The structure of agriculture sector reach 13,45% which is the second highest sector right after the industry sector (19,62%) on the third quarter of 2019. The agricultural sector growth of 3.08 from the previous year. However, the growth has decreased from the third quarter of 2019 which amounted to 3.66%. The Statistics Indonesia said, there is a phenomenon of decreased food crop production due to the dry season. As a result, food crops in the third quarter of 2019 grew negatively 4.81%. This figure decreased from the second quarter of 2019 which amounted to 5.13% and the third quarter of 2018 which amounted to 3.08%. While horticultural crops grew 5.07% and plantation crops 4.98%.

Minister of Agriculture, Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL) explained the 2020 work programmes and the Rp 21,05 trillion for the agricultural support. He stated it on the Meeting of Commission IV of the House of Representatives (DPR) in the Parliament Building, Monday (11/18).
While the target to be achieved by the Ministry of Agriculture in 2020 is expected to increase rice production to 59.15 million tons, corn 30.35 million tons, soybean 1.12 million tons, shallots 1.52 million tons, and chili 2.57 million tons. In addition, other targets are garlic of 0.08 million tons, beef or buffalo 0.45 million tons, sugarcane 2.46 million tons, coconut 2.91 million tons, cocoa 0.65 million tons, coffee 0.76 million tons, and rubber as much as 3.59 million tons.

The Director General of Agricultural Infrastructure and Facilities of the Ministry of Agriculture Sarwo Edhy said, of all the targets, some of them were their main duties and functions. Such as the supply of agricultural machinery (Alsintan) and agricultural infrastructure. For Alsintan, 2020 has been budgeted Rp 1.1 trillion. This budget is for procurement of Alsintan such as 8,500 units of 2 Wheel Tractors, 10,000 units of Water Pumps, 1100 Rice Trans planters, 2,630 units of Cultivators, and 1,210 units of 4 Wheel Food Tractors.
